I’ve inherited this furniture from my great grand mother. These are nearly 100 years old. They are made out of “Cedro Negro” (Colombian Walnut or Juglans neotropica); a “precious” wood which you can only find in Colombia and a few neighbouring countries. This tree’s sap is said to be venemous so that you cut the wood workers have to be careful because it may make blind if it falls into your eyes. And for that same reason insect won’t eat its wood. When I started this work of painting on these furniture i was interested in the idea of desacralization, transformation and destruction. Using this beautiful object and transforming it into a piece of art.
